Despite the extraordinary advances in science and technology and the explosion of information on health, nutrition and exercise, maintaining a healthy bodyweight has proved Mission Impossible. In 2008, the Australian Bureau of Statistics reported that 63% of adult males, 48 % of adult females and 25% of children were overweight or obese - and the numbers have continued to climb. In 2010, the Medical Journal of Australia reported that the cost of overweight and obesity in Australia was $21 billion, most of it funded by the tax payer.

We are not addressing the true cause of obesity: we are starving our bodies instead of feeding our spirits.
