MY CHILDREN

Sogo-Sogo:

I adopted this beautiful little girl in January 2007 when I visited the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre in Sabah, Malaysia.  I watched her swinging from the treetops and felt an immediate connection!  Sogo-sogo lost her mother to hunters.  Without the care and rehabilitation provided by the centre she would not have survived in the wild.  When Sogo-Sogo is old enough and learns all the necessary skills for an independent life, she'll be released back into the jungle.

The Orangutan Appeal UK is a registered charity based in the south of England, dedicated to the rehabilitation and preservation of orangutans and the conservation of their habitats around the world.

The Appeal strives to protect remaining wild populations of orangutans by: 1. providing support and funding for projects across Malaysian and Indonesian Borneo and 2. raising awareness of the plight of this great ape across the globe.

Rouern Synart:

My other little girl is Rouern Synart.

Rouern lives in a charitable Centre in Battambang Cambodia, which provides and cares for up to 120 children who have been abandoned by their families and community because they have or are suspected of having HIV/AIDS.  The Centre was built by the Hope for Cambodian Children Foundation Inc. (HfCC), which is an Australian non-government, not-for-profit organisation.  HfCC aims to give a future to children whose lives have been affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Cambodia.

Hope for Cambodian Children provides each child with a loving, caring, safe home environment, nutritious food and comprehensive health care as well as education and vocational training.  Sponsoring a child provides the necessary funding for this to happen, as well as making the child feel wanted and significant.

Rouern came to the Hope Foundation after her grandmother was no longer able to care for her and her brother.  She is a quiet, friendly girl who is always smiling and she enjoys learning and playing with the other children at the Centre.
